The stage is set for the final round of the Mal Wood Automotive Enduro Cup, as the Queensland Saloon Car Series joins the Australian Production Cars for their annual 300km ‘Fight in the Night’ at Queensland Raceway on Saturday July 27.
Jamie Furness and Brad Wickham took out round one of the Enduro Cup after a nail-biting, albeit controversial finish after a late-race clampdown at the last enduro cup race held at Queensland Raceway in May.
Furness returns with Tasmanian Wickham for the second round, while Lindsay Kearns, who placed second at the previous round with Coleby Cowham, will be joined by long-time car preparer Scott Green, who will be doing double-duty alongside his commitments in the Series X3 Hyundais.
Concept Tiles Racing recently announced a star-studded line-up, with Phil Brock, brother of nine-time Bathurst 1000 winner Peter Brock, announced alongside Brock Mitchell in the #96 Ford AU Falcon, while Jimmy Manteuful will be joined by former V8 Utes and HQ Holden racer Scott Cameron.
Brock looks forward to teaming up with the young driver from the Darling Downs.
“I was quite impressed by what I saw of him at a HQ Nationals meeting at Wakefield Park a few years back, he ran exceptionally well,” said Brock.
“We will be up against some clever little teams, but i’m still as competitive as ever and keen on achieving a good result.”
“We will see how we go in the practice sessions and formulate a plan of attack from there.”
Completing the Saloon Car line-up will be John Carter, who returns with HQ Holden racer Scott Andriske as co-driver.
With two wins at the previous round at Queensland Raceway, Furness holds a 13-point lead over Kearns in the Mal Wood Automotive Enduro Cup standings over Kearns and Carter, while he also holds a 15-point lead over Carter in the overall series’ club championship after three events.
The Queensland Saloon Car Series is set for one 300km endurance race with the Australian Production Cars on Saturday, kicking off at 4:45pm and running into the night to decide the 2018 Mal Wood Automotive Enduro Cup Champion, while drivers have the option to stay for another 300km race on Sunday which won’t count towards the championship.
Spectator tickets are $20 for Saturday, $30 for Sunday or $40 for a weekend pass, purchased at the gate. Kids 12 & under are free.
